Cleveland offers meeting planners underground sustainability with a brand new LEED Silver certified Convention Center opening June 2013. As part of a $465 million one-million-square-foot development project, the largest in downtown Cleveland’s history, the 750,000-square-foot Convention Center is located 30 feet underground and features a 225,928-square-foot exhibit hall.
The campus provides first class amenities and Class A exhibition space for meeting planners with 93,000 square feet of meeting space and 35 breakout rooms. The campus also provides award-winning convention services to meeting planners by partnering with Positively Cleveland’s (CVB) convention services team to assist meeting planners, at no cost, with all their meeting and convention needs.
An underground concourse featuring eight meeting rooms connects the Convention Center to the newly re-named Global Center for Health Innovation (formerly known as the Medical Mart), opening October 2013. The Global Center is the only facility in the world that displays the future of the health care industry through permanent medical showrooms serving health care innovation, education and commerce through state-of-the-art spaces, programs and virtual offerings.
The fourth floor of the Global Center is dedicated to a HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Innovation Center*. The HIMSS Innovation Center will become a worldwide hub for health and health IT testing, demonstration, exhibitions and consumer products including the latest breakthroughs in mobile health devices and medicine technology.
*HIMSS joins Cleveland Clinic, GE Healthcare, Johnson Controls, University Hospitals and Philips Healthcare as charter tenants in the Global Center.
